Discover Dorset are a Bournemouth based sightseeing company. We operate two key tourist services in Bournemouth, our open top hop-on hop-off City Sightseeing Bournemouth service and Discover Dorset Tours, providing local and regional scheduled and bespoke day tours.
City Sightseeing Bournemouth : Tour bus driver
If you have a friendly, outgoing personality with an interest in the local area and its history, and would like to welcome visitors, maybe this is the job for you. As long as you can drive a bus!
We have permanent vacancies, seasonal vacancies, and zero hours/casual vacancies for PCV drivers to join our friendly team.
Our operational base is at the Aviation Business Park at Bournemouth Airport
Our tours operate 7 days a week from Easter until the end of September, running from 09:30 in the morning until 18:30 in the evening so no early starts or late finishes. You are paid for the whole day with no deductions for breaks.
Your number one responsibility is to give our customers a great experience, starting with your exemplary professional driving skills but also very importantly a warm and friendly personal experience from start to finish.
The tour is carefully designed to offer some of the best sights in the area and a pre-recorded commentary is played to inform the passengers about the history and stories that reveal so much about the area. You will normally drive four tours a day, each tour takes approximately 1 ½ hours.

Discover Dorset Ltd also operates City Sightseeing Bournemouth part of the World Wide City Sightseeing family. We are recruiting now for the summer season which runs from Easter until the end of September.
City Sightseeing Bournemouth Ticket Seller – great rates of pay
We are proud to operate the City Sightseeing Bournemouth open top bus tours around Bournemouth, Sandbanks & Poole. City Sightseeing Worldwide operates in more than 100 locations around the world, the Bournemouth operation having been run by Discover Dorset Ltd since 2010. Discover Dorset Ltd also runs Discover Dorset Tours, offering regular sightseeing day tours to the Jurassic Coast, London, Oxford, Bath, and the Isle of Wight
Our ticket sellers are often the first point of contact our customers have with our open top sightseeing service. The role requires you to inform the prospects of what the service offers and to sell them the appropriate ticket.
You will spend the majority of your time at our main departure point at Bournemouth Pier but may be required to work elsewhere in Bournemouth or on Poole Quay.
We have several positions for ticket sellers for the summer season from Easter to the end of September 2022.
Season: 1st April – 30th September 2023
Shift: 09:30-17:00 (20-minute unpaid break)
Duties
- Selling tickets to City Sightseeing Bournemouth service and also Discover Dorset Tours
- Giving out brochures to tourist
- Taking cash and card payments
- Using our ticket selling smart device
- Assisting customers boarding the bus
- Exchanging vouchers to tickets
- Setting the sales trolley up at the Pier Approach

Salary: (Minimum wage) 23+ years old: £10.42 per hour plus good rates of commission
Discover Dorset Tours : Driver/Guides
Do you have an outgoing and enthusiastic personality? Do you enjoy meeting people and sharing your knowledge about places that we visit? Can you drive a bus? If the answer is yes to the above three questions then please get in touch, we would love to hear from you. We are always looking for more driver/guides to join our team. The work is seasonal, although we operate all week and all year, we are much busier in the summer and at weekends. Full guide training is given but you do need a full category D PSV licence.
Our day tours are a fantastic way for visitors to see the best of the area and what really makes their day is the fun and informative commentary given by our friendly and welcoming tour driver/guides.
You will need a full category D PCV driving licence, as some of our mini coaches are 19 seats. Giving the passengers a safe and comfortable journey is paramount so they can sit back and enjoy the fantastic views.
You do not need a history degree, but you do need a good general knowledge, an open and engaging personality, a smile on your face and an honest desire to give people a great day out.
You will initially be trained to provide tours to the Jurassic Coast, with a view to then progressing to guide tours of the Isle of Wight, Stonehenge, London, Oxford and Bath. We also do private bespoke tours from time to time.
Our customers come from all over the world and you should be culturally aware, to ensure you are sensitive to their individual backgrounds and beliefs.
A smart and professional appearance is a must as is good time keeping.
Our operation centre is at the Aviation Business Park, Bournemouth Airport.
A good knowledge of the local area is a great starting point.
