What should I bring with me?

As we like to give you as much time off the coach as possible with the opportunity for walks, we recommend you bring warm and/or waterproof clothing, wear comfortable walking shoes and take sun-block or a hat for sunny days.

Don't forget your camera to capture all the lovely scenery and wildlife you'll encounter on your tour!

Since we cannot allow hot food on our buses you could also bring a cold packed lunch with you to make the most of your time at each stop, this would be particularly time-saving in the busier months!

We welcome children over 4 years old on our tours, and children aged between 4-16yrs are eligible for the concessionary rate. We regret we are not able to carry children under the age of 4.

How accessible are the locations?

Some of the locations may cause accessibility issues due to their geography and architecture. If you are a wheelchair user or have restricted mobility, we would recommend getting in touch with us for more information.

HIGHLIGHTS
MORE INFORMATION

From Edinburgh, our Outlander Coach Tour explores the filming locations made famous by the TV series. Experience Midhope; Outlander's Lallybroch, enjoy time at Falkland, the set for Inverness in Outlander and enjoy time at Culross; home of Claire's herb garden and Cranesmuir Village's Mercat Cross.

Please note: Midhope Castle will be closed from the 23rd of December until the 1st of April.

Our Edinburgh Outlander Tour

We begin our day, departing from Edinburgh's Royal Mile and travelling to our first stop of the day; Midhope Castle*. The 16th Century Tower House was the backdrop to Lallybroch; Jamie Fraser's family home. Spend time here for photos and soak up the atmosphere before our Outlander tour continues.

Following in the footsteps of Claire and Jamie, our Outlander tour travels north-west, to the Royal Burgh of Linlithgow, where you will have the opportunity to take a photo of Linlithgow Palace, Outlander's Wentworth Prison. The palace was originally used as a relaxing retreat for the Royal Family on journeys between Edinburgh and Stirling Castle. Its impressive towers overlook stunning scenery. We'll spend time here to purchase refreshments and explore the town.

We then travel to the Royal Burgh of Culross. A tiny village nestled on the coast of Fife, Culross is arguably the best example of a 17th Century village in Scotland. The gardens here feature in Claire's herb garden, and the Mercat Cross in Outlanders' Cranesmuir Village. Here we stop with plenty of time to explore the village and its cobbled streets and quaint Biscuit Café.

From Culross, we travel onwards to Falkland. The small village in Fife was used as the set for Inverness in Outlander; Claire and Frank arrive here on their second honeymoon. The Covenanter Hotel in the village is also the set for where Claire saw the ghost of Jamie. Spend time exploring the small village, enjoy refreshments and, should you wish, you can visit Falkland Palace and Gardens (Wed-Sun).

Our journey home takes us to South Queensferry. We pause here for photos, enjoying beautiful views over the Firth of Forth before we head back to Edinburgh, where our unique Outlander tour ends.
