What should I bring with me?

As we like to give you as much time off the coach as possible with the opportunity for walks, we recommend you bring warm and/or waterproof clothing, wear comfortable walking shoes and take sun-block or a hat for sunny days.

Don't forget your camera to capture all the lovely scenery and wildlife you'll encounter on your tour!

Since we cannot allow hot food on our buses you could also bring a cold packed lunch with you to make the most of your time at each stop, this would be particularly time-saving in the busier months!

Can children travel on this tour?

We welcome children over 4 years old on our tours, and children aged between 4-16yrs are eligible for the concessionary rate. We regret we are not able to carry children under the age of 4.

Will I meet a Clan Chief?

Inveraray Castle is the ancestral home to the Duke of Argyll, Chief of the Clan Campbell. You can always tell if the clan chief is at home by the type of flag flying at the castle - if the flag is the Duke's Personal Standard flag, then he is in residence. There's no guarantee you'll see him, but sometimes he can be seen walking through the grounds.

How accessible are the locations?

Some of the locations may cause accessibility issues due to their geography and architecture. If you are a wheelchair user or have restricted mobility, we would recommend getting in touch with us for more information.

Can we have our own coach?

Of course. This tour is part of our exclusive tours collection; here we have the option of your own coach and your own Driver-Guide for yourself and your loved ones. The flat fee includes complimentary pick up and drop off in Edinburgh city centre. For more information and to book, please contact out Private Hire Team..

HIGHLIGHTS
MORE INFORMATION

Our one day Oban tour from Glasgow takes you on a journey through the natural beauty of the West Highlands: shimmering lochs, scenic mountain views, and romantic and historic castles. Visit the fishing town of Oban, picturesque Inveraray and haunting Glencoe.

Leaving Glasgow our Oban tour will head west, crossing the Firth of Clyde, where we pass Dumbarton's famous and imposing rock fortress with its equally impressive castle. We then reach Inveraray, a quaint town built in the mid-18th century on the shores of Loch Fyne. Here we can choose to visit Inveraray Castle* the historic home of the Duke of Argyll, chief of the Clan Campbell, nestled in large beautiful gardens overlooking Loch Fyne. Alternatively, explore the town’s white-washed Georgian houses, wide streets and breathtaking views across the loch.

The Oban tour will then climb further north into the Highlands through stunning scenery, and a route marked by several dramatic castles and beautiful lochs. We then pass Kilchurn Castle, one of Scotland's most photographed castles, nestled on the banks of Loch Awe and beautifully framed by mountains.

Next we make a stop for lunch in the picturesque harbour town of Oban, ‘Gateway to the Isles’, with free time to explore its horseshoe bay and see McCaig’s Folly, an iconic 19th century tower reminiscent of the Colosseum in Rome. After free time exploring, we travel onwards past the 15th century Castle Stalker, which is set on a small island on Loch Laich, before reaching Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most haunting glens and site of the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald clan.

Our return journey takes us over the dramatic landscape of Rannoch Moor and the Black Mount before we make our final stop at the pretty conservation village of Luss on the ‘Bonnie, Bonnie Banks’ of Loch Lomond. Here we can walk along the shore or admire the village before returning to Glasgow where your Oban tour will end.
