Important Information
When should I reserve?

A day in advance is sufficient. Even the day of the activity we often have availability.

Is the river calm?

Yes. There are no rapids on the river.

Can I do this self-guided activity if it is my first time canoeing?

We don’t recommend canoeing if you have not paddled a canoe before. Canoes require a bit of technique to maneouvre. Rent kayaks instead.

What is the difference between this and the Diable River self trip in the national park?

  • The river is wider with more sun.
  • This is not a wilderness setting, so less chances to see wildlife. You will pass chalets and farms.
  • The Rouge River has more beaches.
  • The Rouge River has fewer bugs.
  • The Rouge River is closer from Tremblant resort.
  • There are several canot/ kayak / paddleboard activities offered in the area, see our comparison table.
  • HIGHLIGHTS
    MORE INFORMATION

Discover Rouge River kayaking and the soft sandy beaches of the Rouge River. We offer multiple non-guided kayak, paddleboard and canoeing trips in Mont Tremblant. There are several great swimming spots (most beaches are public land), and you can bring your lunch and have a picnic on the shore of the river. The Rouge river is CALM and most parts are very shallow. Our 12 km (half day) section of river is in a rural setting, so expect to see some farms and cottages.

Includes a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard (SUP) rental and up river transport. Our staff will provide you with the equipment, help you launch and give you some basic instructions.

Our non-guided Rouge River kayak, paddleboard and canoe activities in Mont Tremblant are suitable for beginners. Kayaks are easier to control and more stable than canoes. Paddleboards are more difficult and require good balance.

Helpful hint! If you choose to canoe, it’s important to understand that canoes are designed for 2 people and have only 2 seats. It is possible to put 3 if one is a child who will sit on the floor, but we do not recommend putting 4 in a canoe. Children under 10 years old probably won’t want to paddle the whole time, so they should go in a canoe with an adult or ride in a kayak that could be towed. The best configuration puts at least 1 adult per canoe, no more than 2 adults or 2 adults + 2 small children in a canoe (1 adult with 3 children won’t work in 1 canoe). Extra participants can take a kayak or paddleboard.

12 km – You will leave your car at the starting point of our rental centre. A shuttle will take you to the water and you will descend the river back to your car.

If you have your own canoe/kayak/paddleboard, we also offer the option to have the transport service only (price per boat).

There are several canoeing/kayaking activities offered in the area, see our comparison table.
