Experience Munich at night! Escape the museum crowds and bustling squares and see more of the city by bike. This tour is perfect for experiencing local Munich. We opt for scenic bike paths and smaller streets that lead to vibrant neighborhoods and amazing views. Just before sunset, we'll head to a breathtaking view over the city where we can watch the sky turn orange and the city start to settle. We'll also get a look at the Eisbach surfers along the Isar River, and even make time for a pint at a local beer garden. Brats, pretzels, and beer make for the perfect scene to talk about "Gemütlichkeit", or a dose comfort and conviviality that abides in Munich. We want you to experience Munich through our eyes, and this is a great way to kick back and do just that!

We are committed to operating safe tours, and that extends beyond the actual biking portion of the tour. We've adopted enhanced sanitization procedures and enforce social distancing whenever possible. Guests are not required to enter our office (but are welcome to do so) and contactless check-in is available. If you have any health-related questions, please reach out to us prior to your tour.
This tour meets at our shop which is just off Karlsplatz 4 (Stachus), the bustling square between the Main Train Station (Hauptbahnhof) and Marienplatz. At the Karlsplatz fountain with your back to Karlstor and the pedestrian shopping street, turn right along Sonnenstrasse. After 50 meters, you will see our shop in the courtyard of Karlsplatz 4, on the right-hand side. The closest metro station is Karlsplatz (Stachus).
We will stop at a local traditional beer garden where the food is quintessentially German. The cost of food is not included in the tour price, so make sure to bring along some Euro cash with you, as cards may not be accepted.
If you're joining us on our group Munich Night Bike Tour, we're happy to offer free changes and 100% refund up to 24 hours before tour. Failure to cancel a reservation at least 24 hours prior to scheduled departure may result in forfeited travel funds. Fare difference may apply. If you're joining us for a private tour, please note that it must be cancelled or rebooked at least 7 days in advance of the activity start time. Failure to cancel a reservation at least 7 days prior to scheduled departure may result in forfeited travel funds. Reschedulings are subject to availability.
We would love to know how many guests to expect, so please reserve if you can! We will prioritize those with reservations and we do keep our group sizes limited. If it's last minute and you're in the area, it doesn't hurt to swing by our office. We will do our best to accommodate you.
As long as this won't be your first time riding a bike, we think you'll be just fine. Munich is a very bike-friendly city and cyclists often have the right of way. If you're still nervous, just swing by our office in advance of the tour to test out your skills. We ask that riders have good balance, be able to start and stop comfortably, and be familiar with hand brakes. There are some small hills on this tour, and the ability to ride single-file behind other riders as well as ride in a group will be necessary. Having confidence in yourself will allow our entire group to remain safe.
While the tour itself is great for kids, please note that we will likely not finish until 10pm, so it may be too late for very young children. We do have smaller bike options available for children that they can test out at our office. Our Munich Night Bike Tour is very casual, with only one significant hill, and the surfaces vary from smooth gravel to pavement. We just ask that kids and adults be comfortable riding a bike before joining the tour.
This tour does run rain or shine, so we ask that you bring appropriate clothing for the forecasted weather. If it rains during tour, our guides know where to go for cover where they can continue to guide and point out fascinating sites. However, you may still be exposed to the elements. We have small rain ponchos for sale in our office and we recommend that you purchase one before tour if you don't have a rain jacket available. If you don’t use it, we will buy it back from you- it’s a bit of a rain insurance policy! In the case of significant storms, we will try and contact you to organize a refund or reschedule, depending on the situation. Basically, a little rain will only make the tour more memorable, and we'll play it safe for anything extreme.
Unfortunately, this night bike tour does not allow us enough time to enter any of the sites that we see. We've designed this tour to enjoy the city from a broad perspective and hopefully enrich your experience in Munich. We'll touch on modern culture, history, and relevant facts and tips for visiting the museums on your own later in your stay. TIP: Should you want to keep your bike longer, and many people do, you get a discount on rental following a tour. Your guide will be happy to show you exactly how to navigate back to any sites you would like to explore further or visit the interior.
We are unfortunately not able to accommodate special requests like this on our public tours, but you are welcome to select our private option and further customize your tour with us!
