Will we get to see all the major attractions?

Yes. Our tour routes are designed to pass all the major attractions.

What is the duration of the tour?

Athens Line 90 minutes, Piraeus Line 90 minutes , Beach-Riviera Line 120 minutes.

What are hop-on hop-off stops?

There are 15 City Sightseeing RED stops around the centre of Athens:

Our routing and the BUS STOPS have been carefully studied for almost 18 months by special designers and our experts in the Tourist Industry.  You will admire palatial mansions by Schliemann , built in 1878. Hop-on hop-off stops: A1 is Syntagma Square, A2 is the 4 Museums , A3 is Hilton / National Gallery,  A4 is the Ancient Olympic Stadium , A5 is Plaka, A6 is the Acropolis Museum, A7 is The Acropolis & Parthenon , A8 is the Temple Of Zeus, A9 is the National Gardens & the Parliament, A10 is the National Library, A11 is the National Archaeological Museum, A12 is Omonia Square, A13 is Karaiskaki sq.  Extra Stop Thession and Keramikos, A14 is Monastiraki Square and Hadrians Library, A15 is Kotzia Square. During our 90 minutes tour, we are telling you  the story of this great city - leading from Ancient Athens up to modern times.

Can I tell which route each bus is on?

Yes. The bus destination will be displayed on a sign at the front of the bus, indicating which route it is on (i.e. Green is Piraeus, Red is Athens and Purple/Orange is the Beaches).

Are tour buses very frequent?

Yes, in the summer time, the  bus frequency for the Athens Line between 10.00-18.30 is every 15 minutes while 08.30-10.00 & 18.30-19.30 every 30 minutes. Obviously, in winter time, the frequency is always every 20 minutes.

Do your tours operate all year round?

Yes. We operate throughout the whole year (with the exception of the 17th November).

Can we join the tour at any stop?

Yes, the tour commentary is associated to the stops, so if you stay on the bus you will always hear the full commentary…

How many hop-on and off stops are there?

All three tours are over 44 hop-on and off stops.

How is it best to use the hop-on and off feature?

If you are unfamiliar with the city of Athens we recommend you take one complete circuit and listen to the commentary. You can then decide which places of interest you may want to visit, so you can hop-off to see them up-close to then hop back on the bus. You can take as many loops on the bus as you wish with your 24 hour ticket over two days.

Will we be able to recognise the bus stops?

Yes, our red bus stops are two meters tall by 50cm width with details, schedule, photos and map on both sides.

What are the start and finish times of the tours?

Our Athens Line at 08.30 with the last tour in the summer time at 19.30 (end 21.00 ) and 08.30 the first tour with the last one at 17.00 (end 18.30) during winter.

How long is my ticket valid for?

Tickets are valid for two operating days after redemption of the E-Ticket .Your E-Ticket is valid and redeemable for up to 3 months as of your booking

Is there a discount for purchasing in advance?

YES 10%.

If I purchase in advance do I have to take the tour on a given day?

No, your ticket will be activated the first time you will Hop On to our Buses.

Are any attraction entry tickets included in the cost of the tour ticket?

Yes. Keep your ticket because it gives you 10% discount off your next City Sightseeing tour ticket, to be used within 12 months.

Does my ticket give me any other added benefit?

They can be pre-purchased on this website or directly from the tour bus driver or ticket seller by the bus stop.

Can I pay with credit card?

Yes, credit card payment is accepted by our escorts and on the buses by our drivers.

Will there be a commentary?

Yes, you will be offered an informative Multilingual commentary.

How many different languages are offered?

12 languages, in addition to Greek.

How many town and city tours does City Sightseeing offer?

Almost 100 worldwide, out of which over 25 are within the United Kingdom. All locations operate on a franchise basis.

Are tours ‘child friendly’?

Yes, children will enjoy the fun of an open-top double-decker bus.

Are tours ‘pet friendly’?

Yes, trained pets are welcome.

How do I recognise a City Sightseeing bus?

They will always be bright red buses with the City Sightseeing logo on the side, along with the tour location. The buses also display, in contemporary style, illustrations of key attractions.

Do tours operate on Sundays?

Yes, in virtually every city the tours operate 7 days a week.

Do the tour buses offer hotel pick up?

No, because we have to operate a tour route and schedules are agreed with the local authorities. However, usually the main hotels are situated close to a City Sightseeing bus stop. Furthermore, our Stop A1, the start of the Athens Line, is close to the Syntagma square Metro Station.

Can wheelchair users travel on your buses?

ALL of our buses are accessible to users of all kinds of wheelchairs. Only wheelchairs which are in an unsafe condition cannot be brought onto our buses.

ALL of our buses have ramps, low flat floors and a wheelchair allocated space. Wheelchair users have priority for access to the wheelchair space and other passengers will be relocated if necessary to make the area available when a wheelchair user needs it.

Wheelchair users and / or their care-takers must ensure that the wheelchair is positioned against the seat backrest facing the rear of the bus, with the brakes ON. Please ask the driver for assistance if necessary.
