Insider, Bob Hamilton, hosts you on a tour of his home town of Carmel by the Sea. The audio tour app plays automatically as you follow the route to the key attractions in this California coastal paradise. Explore hidden gems and insider stories at Murphy’s Carmel houses, Tor House, white sandy Carmel Beach, the Carmel Mission and more.
The village of Carmel by the Sea is full of art galleries, shops, and restaurants. Its must-see landscapes include the lone pine and one of the longest white-sand beaches in California. The writers, painters, poets, actors, producers and photographers who founded the village, left a legacy of beauty and freedom to reach for the stars.
As you experience all the best things to do in Carmel, you are in control behind the wheel of our own vehicle. The audio tour’s auto-play feature takes you behind scenes where you can get a feel for this special place.
Activated by your GPS location, you'll hear the stories of the outdoor Forest theater, historic hotels like the Pine Inn, Cypress Inn and La Playa hotel. You’ll see what many visitors miss like the famous Comstock Houses, the Murphy houses, Robinson Jeffers Tor House and even Frank Lloyd Wright's "Cabin on the Rocks." The homes are unlike anything you’ve ever seen, even the gardens and fences are artistic expressions.
Go at your own pace as you take in breathtaking views of the ocean, from Carmel Beach, around Carmel Point to the bird haven and River Beach. You’ll learn the fascinating story of how Clint Eastwood opened the famous Hogs Breath Inn, and saved the 150-year-old Mission Ranch.
The audio tour ends where Carmel’s story began - at Father Juniperra Serra's Carmel Mission. This is a fabulous way to visit Carmel by the Sea. Reviewers have raved about how the tour informed, entertained, and inspired them during their visit.
